curtains over shutters?
I have 3 1/2 inch white plantation shutters in my dining room, and i'm thinking that i would like to put up drapes to add to the room (solid color duponi silk), but i would hate to buy the drapes, drill holes in my wall, hang them up and decide that i don't like them .... so could anyone advise me on whether it would look good or look wierd, or if anyone has done this or seen this done ... thanks in advance! = )
Personally, I think I would just leave the plantation shutters. They are gorgeous on their own. I wish I had them, but they wouldn't fit my windows. Instead, I would add to the room with interesting artwork, throw pillows, or a really sexy textured rug. OR...try painting your room a striking color to make the shutters and furnishings pop!! (Hey! It's only paint!!)
If you really want to see what it looks like, try pinning fabric in a similar color over the windows. That should give you some idea before you invest.
