how do you print something out and directly transfer onto a t shirt?
my art teacher was telling me about how theres a way to print something out on a printer (i think you MIGHT have to use a special kind of ink), and then i think you either put something over the ink, or on the shirt, and then when you put the paper face down on the shirt, the image transfers. does anyone know what im talking about? i want to make t shirts, but some of the designs i want to do are too complicated for a silk screen.
If you have a deskjet printer or color laserjet, get Deskjet Transfer paper or Laser Transfer depending on the type of printer you have.
Draw your image or whatever, insert the transfer paper in your deskjet. When you are ready to print, make sure you select MIRROR in the options so that the printer will print in reverse. Otherwise, the print will be backward when ironed on to the T-shirt LOL.
Now, after the print, use a regular iron and before applying it to the transfer paper, put a blank shee over the transfer paper so that the iron doesn't touch it directly. It will allow the ink to seep better in the tissue . That way, it will support multiple washes and won't come off.
That's it. Simple !!!
As for those who say it doesn't work well is because you did not proceed correctly. You need to use blank sheet of white paper over the transfer before ironing. This way, it takes slightly slonger for the heat to transfer to the paper but , this is what allows the ink to seep through the tissue and do a better job.
